Authentic French Handcrafted Garden Pots
The authentic Vases D’anduze ( Anduze Urns or Pots) are handcrafted in Anduze, a small village in the French Southern Cevennes region, on the doorstep of Provence.
Anduze is an ancient village where potters have settled as early as the Vth century, but the Anduze vase in its current design has been first crafted in the XVIIth century. The story goes that a potter had seen an Italian Medici vase on a trade fair, and created his own design offering a simplified and broader version of a garden ornemental pot.
Passionate artisans revived the tradition and today the pots are still handmade, faithful to the same design and tradition. Traditional clays and pigments, colourful glazes and patinas are still used, whilst more colourful hues have been introduced to brighten up gardens.
The garland that festoons the vase and three individual workshop’s crests, all added manually by the potter, are the trademarks that guarantee the origin of the pot. The production process is long as the clay has to dry for many weeks before the glaze can be applied and the pots fired in the kiln.
These pots exude quality and French Art de Vivre and will suit a large array of plants, shrubs or trees and landscape designs.
They are exported all over the world but also adorn the Orangerie Garden in Versailles.
